Vedic Line Neem and Brahmi Face Wash - review

I am an ardent fan of the Himalaya Neem face wash which I stopped using when I layed my hands on the Neutrogena daily blackhead eliminating face scrub (you can read its review HERE). And then I saw the Vedic Line Neem and Brahmi disinfecting face wash. It reminded me of my Himalaya face wash and I instantly wanted to try it out.

The face wash is gel based and green in color. It comes in a plastic tube with a flip cap. Packaging is sturdy and is good if you are carrying this on a trip.

This is what Vedic Line claims about the face wash “Thick & lovely face wash, cleanses deep down dirt without stripping natural oil from the face. Neem & Brahmi very popular Ayurvedic herbs, Refresh skin & have deodorant anti-fungal effects. Fragrance of Tea Tree & Camphor opens up channels, relaxes mind and makes breathing comfortable.

The face wash is not too thick and neither is it runny. It smells like the old Humaam soaps that used to come years ago. Girls form India should be familiar with that smell. Very neem like indeed. But not something I would love to have in my face wash. But the smell is temporary and goes away after you wash it off. I really would have loved to have a non-fragrant or a fruity fragrance face wash instead of the neem that I can smell in this face wash. Neem is actually a very good antiseptic and known for ages to cure and treat acne and other skin problems. It is also known as the Indian Lilac. The leaves of Neem are very bitter. In old times people used to recommend drinking juice made from the leaves of this plant to cure several ailments. Even now we see a lot of skin care brands leaning towards the use of neem for solving acne related problems.

Coming back to the face wash - the gel as you can see is not really that green as much as it appears in the tube. It is rather clear and very pale green in colour.
The face wash lathers quite well (not like shaving cream lather but good in terms of the lather you expect from a gel based face wash) My face feels squeaky clean and soft after washing with this. I will still need to use this for at least two months before I can comment on the effect on acne. But my first impression is very good. I will continue using this and report back.
